Where is the best spot for windsurfing in Aruba?

Aruba is consistently ranked among the top three windsurfing destinations on Earth, and for good reason. The northeast trade winds blow steadily at 15 to 25 knots almost every day of the year, the water is warm and shallow, and the island has a long history of hosting international competitions.

Fisherman's Huts at Hadicurari Beach is the undisputed center of Aruba's windsurfing scene. Winds here regularly reach 25 to 30 knots during the peak season from December through April, and the flat-water lagoon inside the reef makes it accessible to intermediate riders. Advanced sailors push out beyond the reef break where conditions get far more challenging. Several professional instructors and well-stocked rental shops operate directly on this beach.

For beginners, Palm Beach provides lighter morning winds (typically 10 to 15 knots), warm shallow water and easy beach access. Most Palm Beach hotels have equipment rental partnerships and lessons available. Manchebo Beach is another beginner-friendly option, wider and less crowded, with gentle consistent winds that allow learners to build confidence without feeling rushed.

Boca Grandi on the windward eastern coast of the island is strictly for expert windsurfers. The Atlantic-side waves and unpredictable gusts demand strong board control. Do not attempt this spot without significant experience and ideally a local guide who knows the site.

The windsurfing season peaks from November through June when trade winds are strongest and most consistent. Even in the summer months, however, winds rarely drop below 12 knots, making Aruba a year-round destination. If you are planning to windsurf, book equipment well in advance during the December to February window as demand outstrips supply at most rental shops.
